UAS IN GIS WORKSHOP
In this workshop, participants will explore precise data collection techniques using prosumer-grade UAS (a platform combined with sensors), typically applied in geospatial technologies. The workshop will cover basic UAS concepts, designs and functions, and provide resources to help navigate implementation of UAS in GIS. Participants will each receive a trial ArcGIS Online account including a trial of Esri’s Drone2Map technology and a collection of materials and relevant web links.

UAS REMOTE PILOT CERTIFICATE PREPARATION
The primary emphasis of this course is to prepare students for the written Federal Aviation Administration Remote Pilot Certificate exam. Students will learn critical thinking techniques necessary for studying and successful performance as a drone pilot.
Course topics include flight regulations, the National Airspace System, meteorology, drone performance and loading, human factors, normal/emergency operations, and drone maintenance practices.
Upon successful completion of this ground course and scoring at least 80 percent on practice exams provided in class, students will be able to take the FAA Part 107 written exam for the Remote Pilot Certificate.
This is not a drone flying course. However, there will be outside demonstrations, and if time permits, actual drone flying (to a limited extent).
Hobby and recreational operators also are welcome.
